34. E 6th Street in the evening...

For those who like pictures, here are some taken at night on E 6th Street, with some “sonic” experiences towards the end.

There were hundreds of T-shirts, in every colors and with several slogans, on this shop and on many others!

Habana Calle 6, where the Legendary Tigerman played on the first SXSW’09 night.

The entrance for one of the many clubs.

What this picture doesn’t show is that the gentleman with the hair standing up was dressed from the waist down… just with a sock!... and doing a major success up the E 6th Street!

This one is more explicit…

Another of the Austin hotspots, the Flamingo Cantina

Another hotspot, the Maggie Mae’s

The Aces lounge, where Rita Redshoes had her concert.

A filming crew walking around by Pedicab

The crowd with all its biodiversity…

The guy with the sign was being accompanied by the 20 or 30 people following him who hugged everybody that joined them!

Bicycles… many…

To keep my fame of having just been in Austin to photograph skirts and pretty faces…

Some chromatic bizarrs, for those who like pictures of this kind…

This guy was effectively cycling like this, with one of the legs on top of the bike, it’s not of the picture…

A picture that shows everything…by not showing nothing…I liked watching that neither the people on wheelchairs nor another type of limitation, was stopping them walking in between the crowd or watching the concerts with their friends.

33. Rita Redshoes concert at Aces Lounge (March 21st)

The 21th of March was the last SXSW’09 day and, in terms of concerts, the day of Rita Redshoes show. Around 00:00 already on Sunday’s dawn, the concert took place at Aces Lounge, located on E 6th Street on one of the most busy areas of Austin and of South by Southwest.

Aces Lounge is a place made of several rooms where the larger one has a set stage behind one of the bars counters, with the waiters serving the drinks between the musicians and the audience. Another room, right next to the entrance, allows for people to chat and see the concerts taking place next door through a huge glass window. On the first floor there is another room with a balcony overlooking the stage, allowing a very interesting perspective of the concert.

The stage access is made through a narrow curled stair which comes down to of the first floor balcony to one of the ends of the stage floor. It was through there that Rita Redshoes had to come down with her red high heeled shoes to present herself to the SXSW’09 public!

With David Fonseca’s help, Rita fulfilled her promise made still in Portugal, showing some of her songs adapted to the Keyboard and Guitar format, with a sequence device and some loops to help. The result oscillated throughout the 40 minutes between more rhythmic moments, other more calm and intimate, and others of greater intensity such as during the Minimal Sounds with which the concert ended. Here is the line-up of the songs played and some of the pictures of the concert.

1) Waves of Emotion
2) Dream on Girl
3) Your waltz
4) Choose Love
5) Lonesome Town
6) The Beginning Song
7) Mr. Blue
8) Minimal Sounds
